So, after time, I gave it a try.  It is fun and it is very easy.  Peter is a breeze to work with.  After the first few months, I learned, first-hand, something else that Peter was talking about - viral marketing.  Even though I only posted my podcasts on one or two sites and they were made available via iTunes, something amazing happened - suddenly my podcasts were all over the Internet!  My episodes appeared on other substantive websites, ranging from Women’s Health to the Fishing Channel!  Yahoo! and AOL posted my podcasts. My podcasts were being blogged about by people I don’t even know!  They were even being translated into other languages.

Marketing was always a mystery to me.  It was something the “firm” handled.  I would attend networking events to try to meet people, hand out business cards that looked like everyone else’s business cards, and follow up with people I met, all in an effort to build my practice.  I’d write the occasional article and make the occasional presentation, hoping that people would somehow find me. Didn’t have a clue how to distinguish myself from my competition, or rise above the noise.
Then I met Marketing Guru Peter Brusso.  I remember first meeting Peter, and how he showed me his CD ROM business card.  I thought it was very cool, very different, but not for me.  Why would I want something like that, and how would I use it?  I was pretty adamant that I couldn’t see myself using them. Well, now, I am using them almost exclusively.  And I have received so many glowing remarks.  Before they even know what is on the CD ROM, people are wowed by it because it is something different.  What better way to market than to distinguish yourself from the competition!  Then, when people would look at the CD ROM, they really were impressed.  There is an interview with me about my practice on the CD ROM, as well as links to my firm’s website. The CD ROM contains much more information than I can possibly provide in a brief meeting.  The card is very professionally done, and always makes an impression.
Then, Peter suggested I consider podcasting.  Well, I only got my first iPod a couple of years ago, when I won it at my niece’s charity event.  Had no idea what to do with it.  So, the idea of Podcasting was even more foreign to me than CD ROM business cards.  He said that, if there is anything I know about that I can talk about, I could podcast about it. Well, every lawyer knows something they can talk about, and I am no different.  I have done several speeches and presentations that I thought could easily be transformed into podcasts.  Besides, I am well aware of the fact that people search for and find legal services on the Internet these days, so having a presence on the Internet can’t be bad.
I have received great comments and inquiries about the podcasts and am making great contacts. Infocard.cc and Peter Brusso have opened a new world of marketing opportunities to me.  I can’t wait for Peter’s next idea!

Podcasting helps me with other marketing efforts, as well.  Some freelance journalists were looking for people to interview on various topics.  Even though I wasn’t their “ideal” candidate for the interview, I sent them information and links to my podcasts and, “Voila!” they were interested in interviewing me.  Some major publications even did feature pieces about me and my podcasts.  I was just interviewed on a television program (after the interviewer watched my podcasts), and I was recently asked to speak at a human resources conference!  This all happened because people got to know me because of my podcasts.
