Do I need an iPod to see podcasts?

Absolutely NOT!  Most podcasts are still consumed on desktop computers, yet the numbers are falling as more mobile devices are entering the marketplace. It is true that the power of podcasting is the fact that it’s mobile and can be consumed when the viewer desires.  Podcasts are considered “time and place shifted” entertainment.  The podcast industry has “unplugged” the TV or other entertainment systems and allows them to go MOBILE!

I’m not alone.  Many people use podcasts as a form of reward and, thus, are highly motivated by the material.  They look forward to this time with their podcasts.  This will continue to grow as more podcast-ready mobile devices are brought into the market place.  Are you ready for them?  Start thinking of your own show and how it might be consumed by this growing mobile marketplace!
Most manufacturers are making their devices podcast friendly; as they, too, see the power of consuming podcasts on the go or when the viewer desires.  This is very important to understand. It goes back to the time when your parents “made you” do something; you weren’t really excited by doing whatever it was: you might have even hated it.  In contrast, have you ever looked forward to watching something on TV or doing a particular activity?  Yes, podcasting is just like that.  I cherish my time consuming podcasts when I exercise.  I look forward to listening or watching podcasts at that time: it’s perfect for me.  As a result, I am highly interested in the podcasts and listen to them intently.
